Hello, could I please get assistance with the following questions?
How often am I required to study my Bible?
Is there a difference between studying and reading the Bible?
Must I use a daily devotional all the time?

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
-Joshua 1: 8-

How often should you read the _script_ures? From the quote above it seems God gave a pre_script_ion to Joshua if his generation is to be prosperous and successful. In order words it is important for every Christian to be a student of the Word, by taking all opportunities to read and study the Word.

Paul a spiritual father to timothy, commanded him, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" - II Timothy 2: 15

Many Christians have failed in living right because they never truly gave themselves to studying the Word. Some have met unbelievers and seekers and they couldn't express their believe to them because they never really gave themselves to studying the Word. Study to make yourself approved!! It means take all opportunities you can get to read the Word.

David said thy Word have i hidden in my heart that i may not sin against you. Now that's a lovely word you might want to memorize. Read Psalm 119, the whole chapter. An excellent book and guideline for the Word and following it. Knowing the Word will help you avoid sin, it'll convict you with the Holy Spirit and change your ways when making wrong choices.

Is there a difference between studying and reading the Bible?

As you could've read, i said ahead of time, that read and study the Word. Those are two different thing. Take it this way, you can read your mathematics book without studying it. Study involves investigations, examinations, testing, and application. Reading is knowledge without application.

Must I use a daily devotional all the time?

The straightforward answer is NO! But the Bible is indispensable, and must be used all the time if you're really studying and reading the Word. It is good to use a daily devotional to help you to be organized and know what you're doing. It helps new beginners as well study the bible well with joy. However, if you could do without it sometimes, it is not compulsory. But always ask questions while you study, either with the devotional or the Bible. Question asking is the key to growing in wisdom quickly. It will skip some potholes in so doing.

I hope this helps....God bless
