About SU Ghana

Self Description:

Scripture Union (SU) of Ghana is a national, autonomous, evangelistic Christian organization in Ghana. It is the largest Para church organization in the country, and has been established in Ghana since1890. However, modern SU work in Ghana began with a Summer Evangelistic Camp for 13 boys in 1952. The story of Scripture Union in Ghana is a marvelous story of lives changed by God’s word. In the 2006 summer, 8403 participants attended the over 20 SU Camps and Conferences in all the regions across the country.

Mission:

Working in partnership with the churches, Scripture Union’s mission is:

(a) To make God’s Good News known to Children Young people, and families, and
(b)To encourage people of all ages to meet God daily through the Bible and prayer, so that they may come to personal faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, grow in Christian maturity and become committed church members and servants of a world in need.

Programs:

- Evangelistic Camps

- Production and distribution of devotional daily bible reading guides

- School Meetings; SU school groups for Bible study and Evangelism in Senior Secondary Schools, Bible Clubs in Junior Secondary Schools.

- Community Christian fellowships in rural areas and Prayer Warriors Ministry

- SU Bookshops; Book tables in churches, schools and communities.

- HIV/AIDS Prevention Education Programme for young people

- SU Design for Family programmes

Affiliations:

We are affiliated to the Scripture Union International Council and are part of the SU Africa Region Family. We subscribe to the Lausanne Committee and World Evangelical Fellowship (WEF) Statement of faith. The Bible remains for us the final authority in all our matters of policy and practice. We are affiliated to the National Association of Evangelicals of Ghana (NAEG) and the Forum of Bible Agencies (FOBA) Ghana.
