Our focus is on children and young people in schools and rural communities. Over 50% of Ghana’s population of 20.2 million is below 18 years.

Fifty years ago in January 1956, Nigel Sylvester, a British missionary to Ghana, West Africa pioneered the setting up of Bible Clubs in Secondary schools in Ghana. When Nigel Sylvester left Ghana in 1967 he left a legacy of a growing ministry of Evangelism and Bible Reading Promotion in Schools.

Over the past 50 years, SU work in schools in Ghana has borne fruit and continues to grow. In 2005 alone SU opened new Bible Clubs in 113 Junior Secondary Schools nationwide. This brought the total number of SU Bible Clubs in the Junior Secondary Schools to 753. In addition we have SU work in 91.7% of all Senior Secondary Schools in Ghana.

SU has emphasized in its schools work, personal relationship with Jesus Christ or being “born again”, the power of God’s word to change lives, and practical holy living. HIV-AIDS prevention education is regularly integrated into students training conferences and camps.
